Digital intervention for Opioid Withdrawal, Medication Initiation + Titration
*Highly confidential information, this therapy is currently in a clinical Proof of Concept Study funded by the NIH - please do not disperse.
Need
When trying to enter into recovery from using opioids, patients must first rid their bodies of substances, putting themselves in active withdrawal. During this phase, patients must slowly start initiating their newly prescribed medication (buprenorphine). At the same time, they carefully monitor their symptoms and titrate their dosage to successfully transition onto their new medication and enter their recovery process.
Withdrawal is an extremely sensitive time, leaving much up to failure without access to proper care and skills to track, monitor, and feel safe.
Solution
In partnership with clinicians and patients, from research to design, I helped create a tool that helps patients reach their goal of entering into recovery. This therapeutic educates patients about the brain and the science of the medication. How the medication works with their body, coaches them to get through active withdrawal, then allows them to self-report their symptoms. The product guides patients onto the proper dose of medication, tracking and titrating their dose until they successfully have induced onto their buprenorphine.
